Thank you

Thank you, cousin's wife, for the dinner.
Finally I ate proper meal for the first time after many weeks missing due to work and time.

From left to right
Fried ikan terubuk, tempoyak goreng, petai goreng sambal, sambal kicap pedas.
Am too lazy to translate. So, use Google to translate if you need it.

Lock Ann Cafe, Kuching

Went to fetch my auntie's friend at the airport. Then we went to  Lock Ann Cafe. Seriously. Am afraid to try meehoon belacan at any eateries. I only eat the one that my auntie's cooked. Meehoon belacan doesn't taste good when you eat at the eateries since people tend to reduce the ingredients or they just don't know how to make a proper one.

But different case with Lock Ann Cafe. I approved their meehoon belacan. It was like sedappppppppppppppppppp!!!!! Oh my gosh. Why do I feel so overwhelmed typing this... I can still taste the taste in my mouth. Definitely the best I could found outside from home. And definitely would come to have this again next time when am craving for it.

Hope they will maintain the taste and everything. I don't mind paying money on good food.

ABC a.k.a Ais Batu Campo
Shave ice with whatever toppings they put in there. They had jellies in it, sweet corn, red beans, milk/coconut milk, gula apong, cendol (the green thing)...
So nice

Meehoon belacan
How to translate into English?
Meehoon with shrimp paste gravy?
The gravy is made from shrimp paste. Here's the trick. If you have good quality of shrimp paste, the gravy will turn out great. If you use whatever shrimp paste without considering the quality, the gravy can smell fishy and the taste would be bitter.
The gravy is made of shrimp paste, grind dried chili, dried shrimp, gula apong. Blend all together.
Then, meehoon (vermicelli), shredded cucumber, chili paste, lime, squid, century egg.

Ok. Done.

Seriously, whenever I meet my friends, most of them are involve in the medical field. And I always be the odd one since am involve in the education field.

Thank you for this!

And another surprised from our colleagues. Oh so sweet....
Happy belated to Azie and me! We both born on the same month, different date and different year. *hug hug*
So, can wrap up October??? May all be blessed with more blessings and fortune!!!!

Happy born day, MZ!

Dear Moon,

(Sorry for using this photo. I know you will not like it. But I want to make sure you have an original photo today without any editing. Hahahaha!)

Happy 32nd birthday to you!
And congratulation for you have made it to this year. I know things were rough for you back then. And it still seems rough too this year. When you keep on telling that you can't live but you can't die either make me worried. It felt broken inside. That's why I feel thankful for you have made it this far. Be strong. Please be grateful for you are still beautifully breathing here.
Always remind yourself to give your best. May the journey you taken now leads you to the place you are always dreaming of.
Be humble all the time.
Remind yourself no matter how hard your life right now, there are people out there who are struggling everyday in order to survive.
Take care of your health since you are in your three series now. Eat well, and please go for exercise too. Perhaps jogging. I know you feel somewhat disappointed when you did the weighing thing last weekend. Hahahaha. So ya, eat well, sleep well, live a healthy life.
Fulfill your commitment toward your job. You may have your own dream (owning a restaurant). Giving this is what you are trained for, I hope you give your best in the field you are involved right now. And at the same time, I hope you will find a way to make your dream come true. Everything you want to do, and everything that you have planned before, if God's will it, it will happen eventually.
I guess that's all I could penned down for you. It was a mess, but yeah, sincerely from me too.
I wish you well in your life.

Happy birthday once again, Moon.

~xoxo~
Dear Self.

BOY IN LUV for JUST ONE DAY

Errmmm. Yup. Hi. Again.

It's the last week of lecture weeks before exam starts this Saturday. Work? So far so good. Still have works to complete, but naaahhhh. I'm taking my time to spend here. Again. For the past few days, I was thinking of deleting this blog. But then, rasa sayang pulak.....

I just found out the two songs I kept on humming and sang for over the past years. I immediately added them into my playlist before I forget about it. And only today I realized the songs were by BTS. Gosh. Talking of not being an ARMY. I only know those songs and whenever I heard the songs before this, I just kept on singing and humming to them. And I would be like, whose songs are these... And never found the answer till two weeks ago. And only today I found out the title.

Boy in Luv and Just One Day. I only remember the song keep on saying say what you want say what you want and the other one, the music, the rhythm is just stucked in my brain for the past years. So whenever the song popped out, I humming to it smoothly. 😆😆😆😆😆

I went to this particular shop about two weeks ago, before Raya I think, they played both songs. So while I was looking for things to buy, I just kept on humming and singing along to the songs. And I was like whose songs are these.

And yesterday I watched this YouTube on BTS history, these two songs popped out, and I was like, owh, those songs! After all these years... After many many years humming to the songs...
Only yesterday I found out about it. 😌😌😌😌😌 When I first listened to Fire and Blood Sweat Tears, felt like I've heard these guys before. It was so good how music can bring you back to past memories... No wonder they sound familiar.

You know it's good if you know the songs but you never know the singer. Why I said this? Because you will keep on coming back to listen to the songs. And without watching the mv, you can actually enjoy more on the songs. Seriously. That's how I remember those two songs. Never watch the mv, never care who sing the songs. So whenever I heard the songs been played, automatically I humming and sing along to it. Same goes to whatever songs that I keep on repeat and listen to. I just prefer to listen without watching the mv.

OMG. Wats this? Talking on BTS. Hahahaha. Is this post dedicated to them? Nahhhhh. Just something I want to type on. If there should be any ARMYs come across this page, you guys stan the best group. Appreciate the group and keep on supporting them. And I really love how they use their fame and influence for doing project with UNICEF. It's totally a great move that every influential people should follow.

So these two will be on repeat. Hahahaha

The wives

So cousin sent photos of his wife and the rest of other cousin's wife together with our auntie.
Aktiviti hujung minggu, katanya....

Save me: Happy 7th Anniversary!!!

*long sigh*

I know, it's not a good thing to sigh.
I just can't help it.
See, I have works to complete by this week.
But then, it seems like I lost my motivation.
Or maybe because am lazy to get things done.
Or maybe, maybe, because I have this laid back attitude when it comes to things like these.
Things will not get done until few hours or few days before they need to be completed.
I don't know. I just don't know.

Can someone just save me from all of these?

My mom always complained on these before especially when I was in high school. I was just too laid-back and did not push myself that enough to strive for the best. I have the brain, but not the attitude. My attitude depends on how I see things. If I feel it's crucial to get it done, I will always work it on to meet the best end. If I see thing in a way that, it's not something important, it'll be like, I'll get it done later.

This attitude thing.

It's such a problem. For me.

You see, I keep on coming back to this post and update it. Ideas don't come just like that. Am bad at expressing it too. I looked at the date on my desktop, and guess what???

Tomorrow will be the 7th year of Appaz's Place. Huhuhuhu
It has been seven years since my first post on the 13th April 2011. Huhuhuhuhu

Seven years of on-and-off relationship with this blog.
I changed the title few times, I changed the link twice. The older link of this blog before this was www.appazsplace.blogspot.com. I deleted my old blog and the link (and lost the old statistics. Ahahaha. The numbers of visitors on the old link before this was pretty good than the latest link), and created a new one (www.mzappa.blogspot.com which is the one am using now).

And massive thanks to my university buddy, Deideian, for introducing me to this platform. I used to write diaries before. I mean, a lot of diaries. I had more than three, and every year I would always write a new one. Damnit. Those were the times...

Writing things digitally and doing it traditionally are just totally different.

Seriously.
I always have things running on my mind which I express better when I have them written down.
When typing, ideas running away, not want to be expressed here. If it's too personal, I don't put them here. Some things are better to keep in private. More safe.
And there are things better to be written down here.
Why? Since I have no ideas on who are the people that come across this page.
So, I just don't mind it at all.
I don't know you, and you don't know me.
That's how things work for me when ever I post something in this blog.
😁😁😁😁😁😁😁

For me, it's just good to put things up here. There are times where I just search up for my old posts and read them. It makes me like, owh, I was like that before, I didn't know that. And sometimes, it makes me like, I shouldn't repeat the same things ever again, I could be better.
It's like a personal journal where I can always reflect on my self.

It's nothing much here, honestly.

I don't do review, I don't do post that are useful to other people. It just that, I do this for me. Just for my own pleasure. To accommodate my free times, to fill up the emptiness whenever I feel so... I guess it's just a real definition of doing whatever I want to do, depending on my time, whenever I want, whenever I feel like doing it...

It's a SATISFACTION and also a HAPPINESS.

Anyway, Happy 7th Anniversary, Appaz's Place!!!!

Such a lame, nerdy first post. And still the lame-ist until today.👆👆👆👆👆👆
*feeling meh*

GOOD FRIDAY, MARCH 30TH, 2018

Just finished attending Good Friday mass at Carmelite Chapel. Now waiting for my cousin to fetch me. Feeling light after the mass. Got to do the veneration of the cross too. Really thank you, God, for giving me this time.

Called my mom too few seconds ago. The celebration of Paschal at our village will be fantastic. They already start doing preparation for today till Sunday. I haven't celebrate Holy Triduum at my village for quite some time. Years, I guess, since am based in this city. Maybe next year or years to come. Hopefully am still breathing by the time. Hehehe

This year too celebrated with my cousin, Aci, and her family. This is the second year, I guess, since I attend at Carmelite. Before this I went to Cathedral. But then, I tried to make my Good Friday more personal, hence I found my place here at Carmelite. It's more to me time. Something like that.

The weather behaves well today. Hopefully it will be sunny and calm for the rest two days till Sunday.

Anyway, have a blessed Good Friday to those who celebrate.

These words

The most valuable words I keep. Am gonna pass them...
Hopefully they can also inspire and motivate you, just like how they did to me. Of all three, I treasure the one in purple the most.
It's like telling you to pause a little to appreciate things surround you.
It's telling you are just an ordinary human. You deserve to have your own time. You deserve to rest whenever you need to rest, cry whenever you need to cry, smile whenever you feel good, laugh whenever you feel like one.
It's telling you to not loosing hope, and to have faith, to believe in whatever you are doing, in whatever you feel.
The words soothe me inside....
😇😇😇😇😇😇

How could you be so selfish

How could you be so selfish
10 years has gone since you left the world
10 years has passed but still no difference to me
Still missing you like I always do

How could you be so selfish
When your "This is our last time talking to each other"
Keeps on haunting me
Lingering in my memory

The word if only
If only we just went with what we believed in
If only...
Will things be different now?

The path we chose led to forever missing you
marks only regrets in me
Trying to hide and keeping it all alone
You know, it hurts my heart more than anyone would know

How could you be so selfish
Letting me go with a pure goodbye
Without giving me the chance to say a proper one
How could you be so selfish

~In loving memory, W.J~

Cut my hair short

I noticed everytime, whenever the year change, before I come back to work, I would always keep my hair short. And this year I did it again.

This time the hair looks like this. Well, got to try the effect of phone. Caught with camera effect, edited with advance edit. Gosh. Am not very good with this thing. Seeing myself taking my own photos is a rare thing.

Tadaaaaaa

Round round Kuching

If you noticed, I post mostly on what I did on Saturdays. Why Saturday? Because that's the only day I can assure you most probably I'll not be at home.😁😁😁😁😁😁
The only day in the whole week where I am sure I'll be on the road, loafing around with family or friends.
And talking why no Sundays log here? 90% my Sunday I spend at home, doing nothing and become motionless. So, never ask for my Sundays log. I will be at home and sometimes I spend my evening attend Sunday evening mass at church ( which I don't want to talk about. This is too personal and I would like to keep it between me and God). That's all.

Saturday be like this.
January 20th, 2018

I just didn't remember to take photo of my breakfast. Besides I just don't care about taking photos of foods. Only when I remember to do... So I present to you only my empty bowl of Laksa Sarawak and my drink, wheat grass peng. We went for breakfast at Pak Amit Cafe. I love the laksa made by this particular name, Pak Amit. Don't know why. It just suits my taste.

So that was breakfast. After breakfast, the four of us went to nursery. Not that nursery, kid nursery. It was a plant nursery located somewhere near 5th or 6th mile. Aaaaaa, typing this, I regretted not taking photos of the nursery. The flowers and other plants there were so beautiful. Not buying anything and just walked around the nursery itself was like a healing time for me. Of course my auntie and uncle they bought something. Me and cousin just accompanied them there. Hehehehe

From the nursery, we went to this place to survey bedroom set. Furniture store. The furniture there were amazing. I was like am gonna buy that, that, that, when the house is complete (since the building of the house is still in progress. 75% done. I really can't wait to see it complete). And me too taking my chance to survey new handphone since my BlackBerry stop updating and most android app cannot be used anymore.

And then, lunch time!!! We decided not to have something heavy for lunch since we were still full from the breakfast we had in the morning. So we had these👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇

We had ABC (shaved ice with optional ingredients such as red beans, jelly, sago, corns, etc) and cucur campur (mixed fitters) for lunch. Epic!!! Uncle had Special, me, auntie and cousin had ABC without red beans. I just don't like the texture. As for the cucur campur, I chose prawn fritters, and then sausages, then fried yam, fried sweet potatoes, and fried tofu. There were nyummm nyummm!!!

Ok. That's all. This happened last Saturday, but only today (Monday), I posted it up.

Sad Girls by Lang Leav

Finally I finished the book last Friday. It took me nearly 3 hours to finish. It was a good read. I was drown into the emotions brought by the story line. It was sad, and the ending? I couldn't say it was a happy ending. rather than saying that, I would say that the ending was so much like a reality. Things that people would do in real life. I guess maybe that is why the book feel so relatable. I typed this the moment I completed the book.

Mango Tree, Kuching

January 13th, 2018
Friday

Went to Mango Tree, Kuching, for lunch today. The restaurant serves mainly on Thai Cuisines and mix local cuisines. It's a Thai restaurant to sum it up. This one is located at Jalan Crookshank. The one opposite Civic Centre. Not to confused with Mango Tree Bistro somewhere in the city centre. Not sure whether the place still exist or not.
Lunch today was sponsored by Cikgu Leha today in conjunction of her birthday.
Happy birthday, Cikgu Leha!
Thank you for the lunch invitation.👏👏👏👏👏🙇🙇🙇🙇🙇🙇

Now come the best part. Foooddddd!!!! Yeayyyyy!!!
Sing together!!!!
If you're happy and you know it clap your hand *clap clap*
If you're happy and you know it clap your hand *clap clap*
If you're happy and you know it and you really want to show it
If you're happy and you know itttttttt *WHAT TO DO????*
CLAP YOUR HANNNDDDDDDDD *clap clap*
Yeayyyyyy!!!!!😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Let's take a look at the restaurant.
(Photos may not come to your expectation since I have no talent in photography and am bad in taking photos. Few photos are mine and mostly shared by one of my colleague, Christiane)

Before the entrance into the restaurant
Mango Tree, Kuching

The counter
Love the decoration. The Thai airs is truly liven up here.

So, the restaurant exists since 2004. Its already 13 plus years old??? Thumbs up for still being here. Seriously. It's hard to maintain food businesses here in a small city, some more here in Sarawak. The Borneo island, where I don't think people know our state that much.

Don't ask me why. I have this feeling for table decoration. But what caught my attention the most in this room was those elephants at the back there. Reminded me of Thailand.
Please support the protection of elephants all over the world.

First dish. I didn't even know the name. Basically, we, the local people called it "Kerabu Paku".
But I think this one was done with the touch of a Thai. It has peanuts, chilli, onion, a taste of lime. It smelled good too.
I think this one should be "a must try dish" when you visit this restaurant. Very awesome!

It was good. Seriously. Sorry, I just don't know the name of the dish. It had the taste of minced chicken in it, with prawns. Something like that.

Lets called it mixed seafood in sauce. What kind of sauce, I have no idea. It was tasty too.

Fried rice. This one errmmm, moderate. You can get it anywhere.

Mixed vegetables. I guess they added corn flour to make that thick gravy. Nice one too

Roasted chicken. This one was ok. Just ok. Am not a fan of roasted chicken. So.....

Fish in sauce. Something something sauce. Not a big fan of fish, but I still ate it tho.. It tasted good. Didn't smell fishy at all.

Tomyam seafood. Quite nice

Dessert. Mixed fruits

Kuih Tako

Its topped with coconut cream, layered under with glutinous flour and corn at the very last.
It was superb!

Happy kids with happy tummy!!! Yeayyyy!!
Foods were great!
*Thumbs up to the chef*

*Dap dap*

P/s: Don't take this as a review since we have our own opinion and taste in foods. As for me, I really like the foods. They were all great. If you are here in Kuching, Sarawak, take the chance to visit and have some Thai cuisines here.
